Tell Ways & Means to Pass HB 851- End Alcohol Ads on Public Property

Keep HB851 Moving to Stop Alcohol Ads on Commonwealth Property

Tell Ways and Means Commitee to Vote YES!

The SAFE MA (Supporting an Alcohol Advertisement-Free Environment in Massachusetts) collaborative recently achieved great success.

In December,
House Bill 851 (would prohibit alcohol advertising on state property) was favorably voted out of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight and was sent to the House Committee on Ways and Means.

This is a landmark occasion as HB851 has now moved further in the legislative process than any of our legislative efforts in the past.  This type of social policy is critical to our state.  Research shows the more alcohol advertisements youth see, the more they drink.  We want to give Massachusetts youth a healthy start to life.

Now is your opportunity to educate the Ways and Means Committee about what this bill means to communities working to protect youth, and reduce underage drinking.

The Ways and Means Committee members will decide whether the bill moves forward and they play a critical role in deciding what our kids see every day on Commonwealth property.

They need to hear from you.

You are the experts on what is happening on the ground in Massachusetts and what it takes to provide a healthy environment for youth.

Tell the Committee members that we - not just the alcohol industry lobbyists - care deeply about this issue. Let them know that this matters not just to Boston but to people across the state.  The momentum is still building as organizations like the Massachusetts Parent Teacher’s Association show their support for limiting youth exposure to alcohol advertising.

Take Action Now to tell the Ways and Means Committee to do the right thing and support HB851!

Thank you for your
continued support.
